Okay so for the next recipe. IT IS SO SIMPLE I COULD JUST CLOSE MY EYES WHILE COOKING IT! Haha well not action lah.. but it's really easy. This is also another request from my colleague.
Ingredients:
1 onion (blended)
About 10 dried chillies (boiled and blended)
Some anchovies (up to you how much you want)
Grab a handful of tamarind
Batang keladi (gasak lah aku tak tau English cakap ape. Haha!)
1 teaspoon Salt
Water
1 tablespoon belacan
Instructions:
First and foremost, boil the batang keladi until it looks quite soft. This batang keladi can only be found at Geylang market by the way. Boil about 10 minutes or so at low heat
Drain the water from the pot. You will be using the same pot. Then in a bowl, you mix the tamarind with water, and then pour JUST the tamarind water in the pot, until it fills half of the pot. If it's not half yet, keep adding water to the same bowl of tamarind, and repeat process. I repeated thrice for the size of my pot. Once you get the water level, put it on the stove on medium heat.
Then you put in the anchovies chilli, onion, salt and belacan. Yeah just dump it all in. Haha. It is seriously that easy. Just let it boil under medium heat for about 10 minutes or so, and you are good to go. Some people prefer this dish to be sweet so you can add 1 tablespoon sugar. But I don't like it sweet. Happy trying!
